About Dr. Sumita Prabhakar

Dr. Sumita Prabhakar, MBBS, MD (BHU), FRCOG (London), FICMCH, is a senior Gynaecologist & Infertility Specialist in Dehradun with over 30 years of experience, and the Founder & Director of MS Galaxy Hospital. She is the only gynaecologist in Uttarakhand to hold the prestigious FRCOG (London) fellowship. After completing her MBBS (1994) and MD in Obstetrics & Gynaecology (1998) from Banaras Hindu University, she gained international experience at Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Malaysia, and at Sitaram Bhartia Institute, Delhi, before returning to serve the women of Uttarakhand.

Her special interests include high-risk pregnancy care, normal and caesarean deliveries, advanced laparoscopic and hysteroscopic surgery, treatment of fibroids, PCOS, endometriosis, menopause care, and infertility consultation and evaluation. She established Uttarakhand's only FOGSI-recognised Colposcopy Training Centre for doctors (2002) for cervical cancer screening. She has been providing infertility care since 2004, and in 2008 founded IVF India Care, her dedicated fertility centre in Dehradun, where advanced fertility procedures (IVF, IUI, ICSI) are performed.

As President of the Can Protect Foundation, she has led the "Asha ki Kiran" campaign (training ASHA and Anganwadi workers in cancer prevention), the "Meri Maa Swasth Maa" campaign — inaugurated by the Chief Minister of Uttarakhand — which educates school students about their mothers' health, and created Canapp, a breast cancer awareness app. Through these initiatives she has driven free breast and cervical cancer screening camps across Uttarakhand. Her recognitions include the IMA Doctor Achievement Award (2008), Uma Shakti Samman from the Governor of Uttarakhand (2013), the Health Icon Award by the Times of India, FOGSI Achiever Award (2022), ISAR Appreciation Award (2023), and IMA Achievement Award (2025).
