Sample Collection

Imaging

For CT, X-Ray and USG — you will be positioned and the scan performed. CT Scan takes 5–15 minutes. USG 15–30 minutes.

Reporting

All imaging is reviewed and reported by the designated specialist. Reports are ready within 2–4 hours for routine and within 1 hour for emergencies.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is CT scan radiation harmful?

CT scans do use X-ray radiation, but modern multi-slice CT scanners use low-dose protocols that significantly reduce radiation. The diagnostic benefit of a clinically indicated CT scan far outweighs the very small radiation risk.

What is the difference between CT and MRI?

CT uses X-rays and is faster (5–15 minutes), better for bone, lung and emergency head imaging. MRI uses magnetic fields and takes longer (30–60 minutes) — better for soft tissue, brain detail and spinal cord. Your doctor will advise which is more appropriate.

Can I eat before an ultrasound?

For abdominal USG: fast for 4–6 hours for best gallbladder visualisation. For pelvic USG: full bladder required — drink 1 litre of water 1 hour before. For obstetric, thyroid or Doppler: no preparation needed.

How long do lab reports take?

Most blood tests: 2–4 hours. Cultures: 24–72 hours. Histopathology (biopsy): 3–5 days.
